Description

A large ornate polished board in the classic Greek style divided into five panels with a gable centrepiece, each panel has a capped pillar border. Between the first and second pillars are two columns of names, between the second and third are five columns of names, between the third and fourth are nine columns of names, between the fourth and fifth are five columns of names and between the fifth and sixth are two columns of names. Originally the board only comprised those names on the face, additional names were added to the left of the first pillar and right of the second pillar, left of the third pillar, right of the fourth pillar and left of the fifth pillar. All details above and below the names are wood carved, on the centre pillars are wreaths; the names are in gold paint. To the right of the board is a framed bronze plaque.

Built Built in 1918 there were 17 designs submitted and the 'Caledonia' designed by Messrs A. Pengelley & Co. at an estimated cost of £175 was decided upon by the Committee. A prize of £5 5/ was awarded to the winning design.
Opened 15 September 1918 by His Excellency The Governor, Sir Henry Lionel Galway K.C.M.G., D.S.O.
